Left 4 Dead 2.... sit back down. Its literally a mod or addon to the first game. if you've noticed from the gameplay footage on youtube (yeah, its real) the so-called "beta version" thats being shown is essentially Left 4 Dead with some new sounds, maps and weapon reskins. the exact same animations, music, ai, and weapon functionality. for example in L4D the auto-shotguns gun-swap animation (when you take out your gun)your hand pulled out the shoulder thing on the back of the gun. well in L4D2 he/she does the SAME EXACT THING to the spas shotgun even when THERE IS NO SHOULDER THING. HE PULLS THIN AIR... why valve? couldn't e you even delete those frames of the animation. Another example of that is one of the new shotguns. the hand isn't fully grasping it because the model is skinnier than the other ones.
In one of the clips it shows a smoker (versus mode) getting the "big drag" achievement..... really? the same achievements too. Oh and the Charger (the new special infected that was announced) doesn't even have a charging animation, he flys toward you. One minor complaint is that the player that was demonstrating the game has probably never touched a first person shooter in his or her life. Just a tip for Valve but if you want people to see the full potential of your game you should give it to a competent player.
One more complaint is the gauntlet events. In the gameplay clips you see the player going through a carpark or something with an alarm blaring. Valve said those events were supossed to be like the "crescendo events." WHERE ARE THE ZOMBIES? they just stop coming.
Now I know most of these problems will be fixed in the Final version but the point Im trying to make is that Valve most likely started making L4D2 in late April judging from the amount of effort shown at E3. I know Valve is a company and I know companies exist to make money, but they don't have to make it so obvious? I don't think a boycott is necesary I just think Valve should seriously reconsider making L4D2 an exspansion even if it costs money. A price cut would most likely result in better sales because gamers wouldn't be so pissed at Valve, thus giving more money in the long run. If anyone associated with Valve somehow stumbles upon this rant (I don't really consider angrily emailing someone and throughing a fit when no one reads or replys to it) know that I'm just trying to raise awareness of L4D2's current state and to maybe help people to rethink pumping $60 into their local game store or steam, I'm not trying to bring down your company.
oh and for the record in the developer commentary of L4D the develepors state that it took about 4 years to make L4D from start to finish..... just think about that.
